(Marietta, GA) Propelled by fullback Joe Cowley's boot and three second-half tries, #3 Life pulled away from #2 Arkansas State to win 30-14 at home.
Tries from All-American eightman Cam Dolan and inside center Colton Cariaga (an AA Honorable Mention) broke the wolf's back, so to speak, while outside center Darrian Woodson darted through the posts to end any real hopes of an Arkansas State comeback. Life's stellar defense showed a rare moment of vulnerability when outside center Trey Cobble scored ASU's only try in the 80th minute, a last gasp effort as time expired.
Dan Payne, Life's Director of Rugby, praised his squad's "defensive effort," as well as their "patience to play territory [and] trust in the systems."
The Mid-South rivals clash again April 21st in Jonesboro. The rematch will *between the division's favorites could well* determine home field advantage for the D1-A quarterfinals in May.
